More than Thirty reasons to enter Paradise from the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah
Introduction
All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him and seek His aid and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and the wickedness of our deeds. He whom Allah guides, none can misguide, and he whom He misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. This is a message entitled (Thirty Reasons for Entering Paradise) in which I have collected a number of authentic verses and hadiths that mention deeds that are a reason by the grace of Allah for the one who does them to enter Paradise. However, this does not mean that these deeds guarantee that any person who does them will enter Paradise, regardless of his belief, because Paradise is only entered by a believer. If a disbeliever or polytheist does some or all of these deeds, they will not benefit him and will not enter Paradise, because Allah, the Most High, says:
And it was already revealed to you and to those before you that if you should associate [anything] with Allah, your work would surely become worthless, and you would surely be among the losers." [Az-Zumar: 65]
And Allah, the Most High, says about the disbelievers:
And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed. [Al-Furqan: 23]
Therefore, Islam is the first condition necessary for the acceptance of any deed.
As for the second condition that must accompany any deed in order for it to be acceptable to Allah, the Most High, is sincerity in the deed for the sake of Allah, the Most High, meaning that the one who does the deed must intend it for the sake of Allah, the Most High, without associating any other creature with him in his intention. The evidence is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Allah does not accept any action except that which is sincere and done for His sake.” [Narrated by al-Nasa’i, Saheeh al-Jami’ 1856]
As for the third condition for the acceptance of an action, it is following the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so we have limited ourselves in this message to the authentic hadeeths that are proven from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions. Surah An-Nisa :69
I ask Allaah, the Most High, the Almighty, with His beautiful names and sublime attributes, to make this action and all our actions sincere for the sake of Allaah, the Most High.
And to benefit me and all my Muslim brothers with this action and to write for me and my family its reward on the Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit, except for he who comes to Allaah with a sound heart. If I am correct, then it is from Allaah and by His grace, and if I am wrong, then it is from myself and from the devil. Glory be to You,
O Allaah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You. May Allaah’s prayers and peace be upon His servant and Messenger, our Master Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions. Our final supplication is that all praise is due to Allaah, Lord of the Worlds.
In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful
2.1 - The first and second reasons: Faith and righteous deeds:
Faith is mentioned in the Holy Quran as the most important reasons leading to Paradise, God willing, but it is always coupled with righteous deeds, so you can hardly find a place where faith is mentioned as a reason for entering Paradise except that it is coupled with righteous deeds. The door of righteous deeds, praise be to God, is wide and large, and the ways of earning reward are great and numerous, and none can count them except God Almighty.
Allah Almighty said:
But they who believe and do righteous deeds - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally. [Surat Al-Baqarah: 82]
The verses and authentic hadiths in this meaning are very numerous and it is difficult to count them. For example, see:
Surat Al-Baqarah, verses: 25, 82 –
And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. Surat Al-Baqarah, verse: 25
Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them are the Gardens of Pleasure.
Surat Luqman, verse 8,
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a lodging,
Surat Al-Kahf, verse 107,
Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. Indeed, Allah does what He intends.Surat Al-Hajj, verses 14,
Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk.Surat Al-Hajj, verses 23
[All] sovereignty that Day is for Allah; He will judge between them. So they who believed and did righteous deeds will be in the Gardens of Pleasure.Surat Al-Hajj, verse 56
[And] that He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein eternally and remove from them their misdeeds - and ever is that, in the sight of Allah, a great attainment -Surat Al-Fath, verse 5
On the Day you see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, [it will be said], "Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment.
Surat Al-Hadid, verses 12
Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty.Surat Al-Hadid, verses 21
The Day He will assemble you for the Day of Assembly - that is the Day of Deprivation. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness - He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.Surat Al-Taghabun, verse 9
[He sent] a Messenger [Muhammad] reciting to you the distinct verses of Allah that He may bring out those who believe and do righteous deeds from darknesses into the light. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness - He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide therein forever. Allah will have perfected for him a provision.Surah At-Talaq, verse 11
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.Surah Al-Buruj, verse 11
Certainly will the believers have succeeded (1)......Those who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally.(11)Surah Al-Mu'minun, verses 1,11
3- The third reason: (piety)
and its most important definitions: It is the fear of the Almighty, working according to the revelation, being content with little, and preparing for the day of departure.
Another definition of piety is: To work in obedience to God with the light of God (i.e. as it came in the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet, ﷺ), hoping for the reward of God, and to leave the disobedience of God with the light of God, fearing the punishment of God.
For more details on piety and its meaning, see Madarij as-Salikeen and Igathat al-Lahfan by Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him.
AllahAlmighty said:
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs [Surat al-Hijr: 45].
Rather, Paradise has been prepared for the righteous. Allah Almighty said:
{And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous [Surat Al-Imran: 133].
And the Prophet, ﷺ said: What most often admits people to Paradise is piety and good character, and what most often admits people to Hell is the mouth and the private parts [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad, Silsilah al-Ahadith as-Sahihah 977].

The fourth reason: (Obedience to Allah the Almighty and His Messenger, ﷺ):
Allah the Almighty said:
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger - He will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow. And whoever turns away - He will punish him with a painful punishment [Surat Al-Fath: 17]
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
And in Sahih Al-Bukhari on the authority of Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said:
(All of my nation will enter Paradise except those who refuse.) They said: O Messenger of Allah, and who will refuse? He said: (Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.) [Fath Al-Bari Sharh Sahih Al-Bukhari 13/249]
The fifth reason: (Jihad in the way of Allah).
This is by fighting in the way of Allah with one’s life and one’s money. Allah the Almighty said:
Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties in exchange for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the way of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [This is] a promise binding upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an… [Surat At-Tawbah: 111]
Allah Almighty said:
O you who have believed, shall I guide you to a transaction that will save you from a painful punishment? (10)You believe in God and His Messenger and strive in the cause of God with your wealth and your lives. That is better for you, if you only knew.(11) He will forgive you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual bliss. That is the great attainment.(12) [Surat As-Saff: 10-12]
6-The sixth reason: (Repentance)
Repentance cancels out what came before it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin [Narrated by Ibn Majah and others, Saheeh al-Jami’ 3008]

And Allaah the Most High said:
Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds. For them they will enter Paradise and not remain a thing wronged [Surah Maryam: 60]
7- The seventh reason: (Steadyness in the religion of Allaah)
Allaah the Most High said:
Indeed, those who say, “Our Lord is Allaah” and then remain on a right course - no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.(13) Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do(14) [Surah al-Ahqaf: 13-14]
And on the authority of Sufyan ibn ‘Abdullah al-Thaqafi, he said: I said, O Messenger of Allaah, tell me something about Islam that I will not ask anyone about after you. He said (Say: I believe in Allah, then be steadfast) [Narrated by Muslim, Sharh Sahih Muslim by Al-Nawawi: 2/367]
8- The eighth reason: (Seeking knowledge for the sake of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted)
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said:
Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. People do not gather in the houses of Allah, reciting the book of Allah and studying it together, but that tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will cover them, angels will surround them, and Allah will mention them to those near him.

9- The ninth reason (Building mosques)
In Sahih Al-Bukhari, on the authority of Uthman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say :"Whoever builds a mosque seeking thereby the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him the like of it in Paradise" [Fath Al-Bari 1/544]
10- The tenth reason (Good character) The Messenger of Allah
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise for one who leaves arguments even if he is right, and a house in the middle of Paradise for one who abandons lies even when joking, and a house in the highest part of Paradise for one who makes his character excellent.”

“His character was the Qur’an.” [Narrated by Muslim, Ahmad and others] The Messenger is our role model, and Allaah the Most High praised him by saying: “And indeed, you are of a great moral character.” [Al-Qalam: 3]
So let us look at the Book of Allaah the Most High, the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), his biography, and the biography of his Companions (may Allaah be pleased with them), so that we may learn what good character is and how to acquire it. One of the best books that talked about the characteristics and morals of the Prophet, ﷺ, is the book “Mukhtasar Ash-Shama’il Al-Muhammadiyah” by Imam Al-Tirmidhi, may God have mercy on him, abridged and verified by Sheikh Muhammad Nasir Al-Din Al-Albani.
11- The eleventh reason: (Abandoning argumentation)
The Prophet, ﷺ, said: (I guarantee a house in the outskirts of Paradise for whoever abandons argumentation, even if he is in the right…) [its chain of transmission has been presented]
12- The twelfth reason: (Abandoning lying, even in jest)
The Prophet, ﷺ, said: (I guarantee a house in the outskirts of Paradise for whoever abandons argumentation, even if he is in the right, and a house in the middle of Paradise for whoever abandons lying, even if he is in jest…) [its chain of transmission has been presented]
13 - The thirteenth reason (consistently purifying oneself after every impurity and praying two rak’ahs after ablutions).
Narrated Abu Huraira:
At the time of the Fajr prayer the Prophetﷺ asked Bilal, "Tell me of the best deed you did after embracing Islam, for I heard your footsteps in front of me in Paradise." Bilal replied, "I did not do anything worth mentioning except that whenever I performed ablution during the day or night, I prayed after that ablution as much as was written for me."
14-fourteenth reason: (Going to the mosque and returning from it to perform the prayers)
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever goes to the mosque in the morning or the evening, Allah has prepared an abode for him in Paradise every time he goes in the morning or the evening."
[Authentic hadith] - [Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim] - [Sahih Muslim - 669]
15- The fifteenth reason: (Increasing prostration to God Almighty)
Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih on the authority of Rabia bin Kaab Al-Aslami who said: I used to spend the night with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, and I would bring him his ablution water and what he needed, and he said to me: (Ask), so I said: I ask to be your companion in Paradise, so he said (or something else), I said: That is it, he said: (So help yourself with much Prostration) [Explanation of Sahih Muslim Al-Nawawi 4/451]
16 - The sixteenth reason: (The accepted Hajj)
The Prophet ﷺ said: (Whoever performs Hajj and does not utter obscenities or commit sins returns as on the day his mother bore him) [Narrated by Al-Bukhari and others, Fath Al-Baari 3/382] And the Prophet ﷺ said: (The accepted Hajj has no reward but Paradise) [Narrated by Imam Ahmad Al-Tabarani, Sahih Al-Jami’ 3170]
17 - The seventeenth reason: (Reciting Ayat Al-Kursi after every prescribed prayer)
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever recites the ‘verse of the Throne’ after every prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and entry into Paradise but his death.”

There are also other supplications that promise Paradise to whoever recites them with certainty, for example:
Shaddād ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from the Prophet ﷺ:
"The best way of seeking Allah's forgiveness is to say: 'Allāhumma anta rabbi la ilāha illa ant khalaqtani wa ana ‘abduk wa ana ‘ala ‘ahdika wa wa‘dika mastata‘t a‘ūdhu bika min sharri ma sana‘t abū’u laka bini‘matika ‘alayya wa abū’u bidhanbi faghfir li fa innahu la yaghfiru adh-dhunūba illa ant (O Allah, You are my Lord. You created me, and I am Your slave. I will remain faithful to Your covenant and promise as much as possible. I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I admit my sin. So, forgive me. Indeed, none can forgive sins but You).'" He (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) added: "And whoever says this during the day while being certain of its meaning, then he dies before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night while being certain of its meaning then he dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."
[Authentic hadith] - [Narrated by Bukhari] - [Sahih Bukhari - 6306]
18- The eighteenth reason : (Praying twelve rak’ahs every day and night as a voluntary act for the sake of Allah Almighty)

Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah told us, Ishaq bin Sulayman al-Razi told us, on the authority of Mughirah bin Ziyad, on the authority of Ata’, on the authority of Aishah. “Whoever prays twelve rak’ahs in a day and night, a house will be built for him in Paradise: four before noon, two after it, two after sunset, two after ‘Isha’, and two before the dawn prayer.” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, Sahih al-Jami’ 6362]
19 - The nineteenth reason: (Spreading peace, feeding the poor, maintaining family ties, and praying at night).
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “O people, spread peace, feed the poor, and pray at night while people are asleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace.” [Narrated by Ibn Majah and others.] [Sahih Sunan Ibn Majah 1097]
20- The twentieth reason: (Truthfulness in speech, fulfilling promises, fulfilling trusts, guarding private parts, lowering the gaze, and restraining the hand)

22- The twenty-second reason (raising and supporting three daughters or sisters):
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever has three daughters and he cares for them, he is merciful to them, and he clothes them, then Paradise is certainly required for him.” It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, what if he has only two?” The Prophet said, “Even two.” Some people thought that if they had said to him one, the Prophet would have said even one.

23-The twenty-third reason: (Responding to Allaah’s reward and being patient over the death of children and close friends):
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever seeks reward for three of his offspring will enter Paradise. A woman said: “And two?” He said: “And two.” [Narrated by al-Nasa’i and Ibn Hibban, Saheeh al-Jami’ 5969]
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah, the Exalted, said: 'My reward shall be nothing less than Paradise for My faithful servant who, if I take the life of his beloved one from the inhabitants of the world, he bears it patiently in expectation of My reward.'"
[Authentic hadith] - [Narrated by Bukhari]
24-The twenty-fourth reason: (Sponsoring an orphan)
Imam Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih on the authority of Sahl bin Saad on the authority of the Prophet, ﷺ, who said: I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like this, and he pointed with his index and middle fingers [Fath Al-Bari 10/436]
25 - The twenty-fifth reason : (Visiting the sick or visiting a brother in God)
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever visits a sick person or a brother of his for Allah's sake, a caller calls out: 'May you be glad, may your footsteps be blessed, and may you dwell a home in Paradise !'"
[Good hadith] - [Narrated by Ibn Majah - Narrated by At-Termedhy - Narrated by Ahmad]
26 The twenty-sixth reason : “Maintaining two characteristics.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are two qualities, or two characteristics, which no Muslim slave maintains except that he will enter Paradise. They are easy, and whoever does them is few. He says Subhan Allah ten times after every prayer, and Al-Hamdulillah ten times, and Allahu Akbar ten times. That is one hundred and fifty on the tongue and one thousand five hundred on the scale. And he says Allahu Akbar thirty-four times when he goes to bed, and Al-Hamdulillah thirty-three times, and Subhan Allah thirty-three times. That is one hundred on the tongue and one thousand on the scale. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) counting them with his hand. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how easy are they, and whoever does them is few? He said: The devil comes to one of you - meaning the devil - in his sleep and makes him sleep before he says it, and he comes to him during his prayer and reminds him of a need before he says it.
27 The twenty-seventh reason: (Generosity in buying and selling)
Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “Allah Almighty will admit a man into Paradise who was lenient in his buying and his selling, in his paying debts and his seeking repayments.”

28-The twenty-eighth reason: (Pardoning the one in difficulty)
On the authority of Rib’i ibn Hirash, on the authority of Hudhayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet, ﷺ said: “A man died and entered Paradise. He was asked: What did you do? He either mentioned it or was reminded. He said: I used to trade with people, and I used to give the insolvent a respite and I used to be flexible in the currency or in the money. So he was forgiven.”
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"There was a man who used to give loans to people. He would say to his servant: ‘When you come to an insolvent person, overlook his debt; perhaps Allah would overlook our sins.’ So, the man met Allah (after death), and He overlooked his sins."

29-The twenty-ninth reason : (A group of good deeds, if they come together in a Muslim in one day, he will enter Paradise by the grace of God)
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said, “Who among you has woken up today fasting?” Abu Bakr said, “I have.” The Prophet said, “Who among you has followed a funeral procession?” Abu Bakr said, “I have.” The Prophet said, “Who among you has fed a needy person?” Abu Bakr said, “I have.” The Prophet said, “Who among you has visited a sick person?” Abu Bakr said, “I have.” The Prophet said, “These deeds are not combined in someone but that they will enter Paradise.”

30-The thirtieth reason: (Patience in losing the blessing of sight)
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may God be pleased with him, the Prophet, ﷺ: (Allah Almighty says: Whoever loses his two shiny ones (eyes) and is patient and seeks reward, I will not be satisfied with any reward for him less than Paradise [Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, Sahih Al-Jami’ 8140]
31-The thirty one reason: (Asking for forgiveness)
